Hi guys,
I am looking at getting a nice light 1-3kg spin outfit to chase bream, whiting, flatties, trout and some of the bigger natives. As far as reels go I was looking at the Daiwa 2013 Certate in the 2500 size. Would this be too big? Has anyone had experience with the 2013 Certate? Any other reels I should consider? I am happy with the $400 price range.

Thanks all!!

Mate, personally I would go with a 1000 size reel. I prefer Shimano reels and love the Rarenium CI4 for a mid range price around $240.00. Loaded with 3 or 4lb braid there won't be many bream that you can't handle.

Cheers

Bill.

1000 stradic, sustain or 2500 rarenium, stradic ci4 if you're a Shimano man. 2000/2004 caldia, luvias or certate if you're a daiwa fan

Being young family with newborn baby when I upgraded I couldn't spend heaps on a combo.
I ended up with a 1-3kg crucis aegis rod matched with a shimano aernos 2500 reel.
This whole setup cost me just over 250 dollars.
The rod can't be faulted for the price.
The reel does the job nicely too and comes with a spare spool so I can have 2 different line weights.
I would love anb expensive setup but this does the job just fine
